Installation and Operating Instructions

SELECTING A HARD DISK RECORDER

Hard Disk Recorders (HDRs) can be connected to the Pyramid system via a number of serial ports found on a Pyramid

matrix unit. A HDR can then be used to record digital video to hard disk or another type of digital media. For this reason, the

controls to operate a HDR are available on the Pyramid 2 Keyboard.
To operate a HDR using the Pyramid 2 Keyboard, it must first be selected. To do this, it is necessary to know the number

that was assigned to the HDR when the system was installed. This should be available from the site manager.
Once the HDR number is known, it can be selected and operated.

Selecting a HDR

1. Go to the

VCR/MUX

screen. To do this, press the

VCR/MUX

screen key.

2. Using the number keys, enter the number of the HDR that is to be controlled.
3. Press the

HDR

soft-key.

4. The

HDR Control

screen is displayed.

Notes

At present the Pyramid 2 Keyboard only supports the Vista Columbus HDR, although other drivers may be added to the

Pyramid matrix unit in the future. The Columbus HDR combines recording and multiplexing in one unit, and also has an

advanced search facility. The

HDR Control

screens have been designed to enable an operator to control all these

functions.

To be able to view images from a HDR, the HDR video output lead should be connected directly to a video input socket

on a Pyramid matrix unit. The HDR will then be treated like any other video input, and therefore can be viewed at any

monitor location.
