The Spectrum system is equipped to detect
most types of operating errors and malfunctions.
It performs a self-test cycle each time the power
is turned on. It also monitors the condition of
valves and controls during operations.
If a normal transaction is completed or if an
error is detected, a status code is assigned and
reported. It may be displayed on the LCD screen
at startup or immediately after a problem occurs.
Status codes are always displayed in the form
“STXX”, where XX is a status code number.
Status codes are also recorded in memory as
part of the SYSTEM HISTORY LOG. This log
may be displayed sequentially on screen, item
by item, by following the procedure “TROUBLE-
SHOOTING PROCEDURES: SYSTEM LOG” on
page 44.
Use the history log , the corrective action tables
on pages 46-52, and the following procedure, to
identify and fi x operational problems:
1
Scroll through the history log records
and look for any instance of a Status
Code >= 30.
Codes below 30 are for normal
operations and do not indicate a problem.
For each instance, write down the complete
display information.
2
Now, Look at the list you have written.
Attempt to associate a particular record
in the history log, or set of records, to the
beginning instance of Spectrum system mal-
function. Use the time and date, or job num-
bers, to make this association.
3
After selecting apparent “cause” records
from the history log, refer to the diag-
nosis and corrective action tables, pages
48-56.
4
Execute the corrective action for the
“causal” status code, step by step.
Observe system operation after each step
and follow instructions in the tables.
5
If causes of the operational problem
cannot be determined using status codes,
or repairs are not effective, contact Balcrank
Customer Service for assistance.
