Lower the end of the sleeve into the toilet
bowl. You can either sit or stand during
the irrigation process. If you are sitting,
the sleeve can be shortened by raising
its end. (12)
Place the cone through the opening of
the sleeve and then gently insert the cone
into the stoma. (13)
Gradually open the clamp to let the water
into the stoma. For the flush use 500-
700ml of water. The rotation of the wings
inside the flow index allows you to check
the speed of the flow. Adapt to individual
tolerance but keep the flow as quick as
possible. (14)
Once the water is administrated, roll down
the tubing clamp, remove the cone and
carefully close the upper sleeve end (risk
of reflux) and direct the lower end into
the toilet bowl. The main volume of water
will flow back out in a few minutes. (15)
Rinse the lower end of the sleeve by flushing
the toilet. Then rinse the sleeve inside by
using the remaining water in the container.
Fold the lower part of the sleeve and fix
it with the integrated closure clamp. A
clockwise abdominal massage could
facilitate the irrigation process. (16)
While waiting for irrigation to finish-
approx. 30 mn - you can attend to your
daily business. (17)
AFTER IRRIGATION
- To remove the sleeve, carefully detach its
upper part and pull gently downwards.
Try to avoid pulling in stages and use one
smooth action in order to preserve your
skin.
- If using B. Braun face-plate, remove the belt
and face-plate after removing the sleeve.
- Clean your skin with lukewarm water and
then dry carefully.
When the defecation of the last stools
has finished, dispose of the sleeve in the
garbage. (18)
Apply a new stoma device such as Iryfix®,
Softima®/Flexima® Mini or Softima®/
Flexima® Active Mini. (19)
If you used irrigation with Softima®/Flexima®
Key base plate, apply your usual pouch.
When the irrigation process is over, disconnect
your Iryflex® accessories (Please pay special
attention to cone disassembling from the
tubing. Use alternately gentle tractions and
rotations), rinse them with water (Soft soap
use is possible but then rinse the devices).
Dry them, and store in your Iryflex® toilet bag.
Reuse of single use devices (sleeves, stoma
cap and pouches) may be dangerous for the
patient. Device could be contaminated
and/or function improperly. This could lead
patient to injuries or potentially lethal
diseases.
Reusable devices included in this kit must
be checked carefully before each use. If any
defect is noticed, you have to replace them
with new ones. Average use period is
6 months but this could be shortened by
individual constraints.
