Restoring the database
To restore a database you must restore it and then bring it online.
Prerequisite
The following conditions must be met before you can restore a database.
• The Watchdog service must not be started. Stop the Watchdog service.
• Please note that the size of the database upon restore must match the size of the saved database.
The settings for Size of the database device , Size of the log device and Size of the temp device
must match.
Restore
To restore a database, follow these steps.
1. Start Sybase Central Java Edition .
2. In the Extras menu select Connect . The Connect to Adaptive Server Enterprise dialog opens.
3. Enter the user name sa .
4. Enter the password.
5. Right-click the cc database. A pop-up menu opens. Select Restore .
6. Select cc .Click Next .
7. Select Restore the entire database .
8. Click Next .
9. Click Add .
10. Select Explicit dump device .
11. Enter the physical data medium e.g. c:\DBBackup\db_cc.
12. Click OK .
13. Click Next . Use the default.
14. Click Next . Use the default.
15. Check the messages for errors. Click Finish .
16. You need to set the database online. Select the server.
17. Press F5 . The view is refreshed and the database is marked as offline.
18. Right-click the database. Confirm the message with OK .
19. Select Online . The database is now online again.
