8.
Raise and lock side rails on both sides of unit. (If used, refer to
Risks and Precautions
section in the
Introduction
chapter of this manual).
9.
Install foot cushion(s) as required.
If foot cushion is installed next to footboard, no
additional support is required. If foot cushion is installed
for a shorter patient, two foot cushions should be used
together for support, as shown at right. The cover sheet
must not extend over the foot cushion. Tuck the cover
sheet under the foot cushion.
Air Pressure Adjustment
1.
Verify proper air pressure adjustment using the following
methods:
• Allow a cradling effect, approximately a 40%
depression where the patient lies, as shown at right.
The percussion bladder and turning bladders are
shown partially inflated to make them visible for
illustrative purposes only.
• Perform a hand check beneath the shoulders,
hips and heels, as shown at right:
-
Unzip cover sheet, slide hand under cover
sheet and beneath cushions to rest on
turning bladders and cushion base support.
-
Lift hand slightly to verify 1 in to 1.50 in
(25 mm to 38 mm) of air is supporting the
patient.
-
Re-zip cover sheet.
2.
Manually adjust air pressure as needed:
• Press triangular buttons shown at right to increase or
decrease air pressures for head, body, seat and leg
cushion sections.
