Scanning of frequency channels
Scanning of frequency channels is conducted for evaluation of the noise level at
operating frequency channels of the wireless system in its suggested location.

to select a frequency channel for scanning.
The level of the signal received within the cho-
sen frequency channel is displayed as an auxil-
iary graph.
A signal in RSSI (1 RSSI equal 1.5 dB) is dis-
played at the vertical axis of the graph.
Time of scanning in seconds is displayed at the
horizontal axis. The period of scanning is about
5 sec.
Reading value below the moving cursor is also displayed at the left bottom corner
in RSSI units.
When the wireless interface is turned on, PU-R defines a level of the signal by us-
ing its receiver, when the interface RS-232 is turned on, a signal’s level is read by
PU-R from the wireless expander. Interfaces switching is performed in the menu of
PU-R’s settings.
The normal noise level lies within 10-20 RSSI range at the frequency channels
434 MHz (10-15 RSSI at the frequency channels 868 MHz). Short period peaks at
the graph correspond to radio signals in the air. The bigger number of such peaks,
the more the chosen frequency channel is loaded.
For operation, select a frequency channel which noise level is the least and the
number of short period peaks is the smallest (the noise environment is the most fa-
vorable).
