16.4.6 Diaphragm testing and replacement
- Check the diaphragms at least once a year to make sure they are in good working order.
- Note the location of the inlet and discharge valves before removing them.
- Do not remove the adjacent membrane until the adjacent membrane has been inspected or
replaced and fully installed.
- Rotate the shaft so that the piston of the diaphragm to be tested or replaced is on top to allow
the oil to flow out of the packing.
- Always replace all diaphragms, even if only one is damaged or worn.

Diaphragm testing
- Disassemble the pump.
- Loosen nuts on pressure and suction pipe ring
- Remove the suction and discharge lines.
- Remove the valves.
- Loosen the screws.
- Remove the chamber heads
- Check the condition of the diaphragms.
- Replacement of the damaged membrane.
16.4.6.2
Replacing the diaphragm
- Pay attention to the correct position of the hole or bore in the piston.
- Fasten the diaphragm (7 Fig. 16/1) to the piston with the plate and the screw so that the edge
of the diaphragm or the "OIL" mark on the diaphragm faces the piston.
- Always tighten the screws briefly to the specified torque.
- Improper tightening of the screw leads to stripping of the thread and thus to leaks.
Procedure:
- Loosen the screw and remove the diaphragm and plate from the piston.
- Drain the oil emulsion if the membrane is damaged.
- Flush the pump housing with diesel oil, kerosene or flushing oil.
- Clean all sealing surfaces.
- Insert the diaphragm.
- Place the head on the pump housing and screw it on.
- Tighten evenly across the cross.
- Reinstall the valves after testing and cleaning.
- Putting on the O-rings
- Screw the pressure and suction lines to the pump housing.
- Tighten the screws briefly to 11Nm.
