The preceding statements are primarily managemen t commands
that do not incorp orate programming co des. The follo wing t w o
statements do incorp orate programming co des, and are used for data
comm unication.
Output
Output is used to send function commands and data commands from
the con troller to the addressed instrumen t. The syn tax is:
where USING is a secondary command that formats the output in a
particular w a y , suc h as a binary or ASCI I represen tation of n um b ers.
The USING command is follo w ed b y \image items" that precisely
dene the format of the output; these image items can b e a string of
co de c haracters, or a reference to a statement line in the computer
program. Image items are explained in the programming co des where
they are needed. Notice that this syn tax is virtually iden tical to the
syn tax for the ENTER statement that follows.
