and maximum. When the sw ept signal generator is in man ual sw eep
op eration the sw eep output v oltage is a p ercen tage of the span.
Minimum load imp edance is 3 k.
STOP SWEEP IN/OUT stops a sw eep when this input is pulled
low. Retrace do es not o ccur, and the sw eep resumes when this
input is pulled high. The op en circuit v oltage is TTL high and is
in ternally pulled low when the sw ept signal generator stops its sw eep.
Externally forcing this input high will not cause damage or disrupt
normal op eration.
10 MHz REF INPUT accepts a 10 MHz 6100 Hz, 0 to +10 dBm
reference signal for op eration referenced to an external time base.
Nominal input imp edance is 50 .
10 MHz REF OUTPUT pro vides a 0 dBm, 10 MHz signal deriv ed
from the in ternal frequency standard of the sw ept signal generator.
This input is a 50 connector that can b e used as the master clo c k
reference output for a net w ork of instrumen ts.
TRIGGER INPUT activ ated on a TTL rising edge. Used to
externally initiate an analog sw eep or to adv ance to the next p oint of
a step list or a frequency list.
TRIGGER OUTPUT Pro duces a 1 s wide TTL-lev el pulse at 1601
p oints ev enly spaced across an analog sw eep, or at eac h p oint in a
step list or a frequency list.
V OL TS/GHz supplies a v oltage that is prop ortional to the RF
output frequency , with a ratio of 0.5 v olt output for ev ery 1 GHz of
RF frequency (factory setting). This ratio is switchable to either
0.25 or 1 v olt. The switch is lo cated on the A12 SYTM assem bly , see

information. This output is designed to driv e in to 2 k or greater.
Z-AXIS BLANK/MKRS supplies a p ositiv e rectangular pulse
(approximately +5 V in to 2 k) during the retrace and switch
p oints when the sw ept signal generator is sw eeping. This output
also supplies a 05 V pulse when the RF output is coinciden t with a
marker frequency .
Multi-pin Connectors
A UXILIAR Y INTERF A CE connector pro vides con trol signals to
the HP/Agilen t 8516A S-parameter test set switch doubler. This
connector is a 25-pin D-subminiature receptacle lo cated on the rear
