HOMEOWNER OPERATION
Very small changes in shutter settings make major changes in flame appearance.
4. Light burner. Check manometer reading.
5. Turn burner and pilot off.
6. Disconnect manometer hose and tighten the manifold (OUT) pressure tap by turning screw clockwise. Screw should be
snug. Do not over tighten.
7. Attach the manometer to the manifold pressure tap (B) to verify it is completely sealed. The manometer should read no
pressure when pilot and burner are on.

Burner Flame Adjustments
Burner flame appearance and characteristics are affected by altitude, fuel quality, venting configuration, and other factors.
After installation, additional adjustments may be required to achieve optimum flame appearance and visual aesthetics.
Gas Flame Adjustment
During the initial installation, the air shutter opening should be checked to be certain that the shutter is set correctly as
specified in this manual. Adjustments should only be made by a qualified installer.
For altitudes above 5,000 ft., some variations may be required.
Be sure burner and logs are properly installed. After burner has been properly installed and operated for 2-3 hours, small
additional adjustments to the air shutter may be necessary for final flame appearance. These small shutter adjustments can
be made by the following procedure
To avoid property damage or personal injury, allow ample time to cool before making any adjustments.
VENTURI ADJUSTMENT MUST BE DONE BY A QUALIFIED SERVICE TECHNICIAN.
1. Air shutter controls are located at the bottom of the appliance next to the valve assembly.
2.
If flame is too “blue,” push the air shutter knob in (close) in small 1/8” increments until flame turns desired realistic “orange”
color.
3.
If flame is too “orange” or is causing sooting on viewing glass, pull air shutter knob out (open) in approx. 1/8” increments until
sooting stops.
Try each new shutter setting approx. ½ hr. before making additional changes. Changes in burner flame
can be made by re-arranging the ember material.
