Removing an Option Card
Note: Expansion slot covers must be installed on all vacant slots
to maintain the electromagnetic emissions characteristics of the
system and to assure proper cooling of the system components.
1.
Power off the system and remove the covers as described
earlier in this chapter.
2.
Disconnect any cables attached to the option card you are
removing.
3.
Remove and save the option card retaining bracket screw.
4.
Hold the card at each end, and carefully rock it back and
forth until the edge connectors pull free. Make sure that you
do not scrape the card against other components.
5.
Remove the card from the expansion slot and place it in an
antistatic wrapper.
6.
If you are replacing a board, go to “Installing an Option
Card” earlier in this chapter, otherwise continue.
7.
Install an expansion slot cover over the vacant slot using the
previously removed screw.
8.
Replace the covers and power on the system.
9.
If you removed an EISA option card, run the ECU to
configure the system as described in the Configurations
chapter.
