This chapter helps you identify and solve problems that might
occur while using the system.
Initial System Startup
Problems that occur at initial system startup are usually caused
by incorrect installation or configuration. Hardware failure is a
less frequent cause.
Checklist
Is the line voltage selector switch on the back of the power
supply set to the correct input voltage. See the section “Setting
the Line Voltage” in the Setting Up Guide.
Is AC available at the wall outlet?
Is the keyboard locked? If the keyboard and mouse activity
light are lit, the keyboard and mouse are locked. To unlock,
simply press the keyboard/mouse on/off push-button.
Are all cables connected?
Are the CPU and memory modules fully seated and in their
respective connector slots on the system board?
Are all the EISA/ISA option boards fully seated in their
connector slots on the system board?
Are all jumper settings on the system board correct? For
jumper information, see the “Configuring Your System”
chapter.
