Removing the Memory Module
1.
Power off the system and remove the covers as described
earlier in this chapter.
2.
Remove the module retaining bracket as described earlier in
this chapter.
3.
Remove the memory module from connector J0520 on the
system board and place it on an antistatic foam pad or on a
grounded workstation. If you are installing additional
SIMMs, go to the section “Installing Memory Module
SIMMs.” Otherwise continue.
4.
Replace the module retaining bracket as described earlier in
this chapter.
5.
Replace the covers and power on the system.
6.
Run the ECU to configure the system as described in the
Configurations chapter.
7.
Remove the memory module serial number from the
equipment log.
Installing Memory Module SIMMs
Notice: Use extreme care when installing a SIMM module.
Applying too much pressure can break the retaining clips or damage
the socket slot. SIMMs must always be installed or removed in pairs.

Power off the system and remove the covers as described
earlier in this chapter.
Notice: Observe static precautions. Use an antistatic wrist strap.
2.
Place the module on an anti-static surface with the SIMM
sockets facing upward and the edge connector facing you.
The sockets must be filled as left-right pairs, beginning with
the lower sockets (D on the following illustration).
