3.1 Handling Precautions
Read the Safety Precautions
Safety Precautions
If you are using the GS200 for the first time, make sure to read “Safety Precautions,” on
pages v and vi.
Do Not Remove the Case
Do not remove the case from the instrument. Some sections inside the instrument have
high voltages that are extremely dangerous. For internal inspection and adjustment,
contact your nearest YOKOGAWA dealer.
Unplug If Abnormal Behavior Occurs
If you notice smoke or unusual odors coming from the instrument, immediately turn off
the power and unplug the power cord. If these symptoms occur, contact your nearest
YOKOGAWA dealer.
Correct the Problem If Output Is Forcibly Turned Off
If the GS200 detects an internal circuit error due to an excessive external input or
electrical oscillation, the output is forcibly turned off, the ERROR indicator illuminates,
and the error message “An abnormal load is connected” is displayed. If this happens,
remove the cause of the problem, such as the external load, and turn the output on
again. If the output still turns off after you have corrected the problem, the GS200 may be
malfunctioning. Contact your nearest YOKOGAWA dealer. Note that even if the GS200 is
returned to normal, the error display remains until you manually clear it (see section 9.6,
“Error Log Display”) or use communication commands to read the error information.
Turn the Power Switch Off If Overheat is Detected
If the GS200 detects an overheat condition such as when the inlet or vent holes for the
cooling fan are obstructed or the fan is stopped, the GS200 forcibly turns the output off,
displays an “Abnormal Temperature” warning, and produces intermittent beeps. If this
happens, immediately turn the power switch off. Check that there is adequate space
around the GS200, and check for and remove any foreign objects that are caught in the
cooling fan on the rear panel. If the same warning appears when you turn the power
switch on after waiting a sufficient amount of time, the GS200 may be malfunctioning.
Contact your nearest YOKOGAWA dealer.
Handle the Power Cord with Care
Nothing should be placed on top of the power cord. The power cord should also be kept
away from any heat sources. When unplugging the power cord from the outlet, never
pull by the cord itself. Be sure to hold and pull by the plug. If the power cord is damaged,
purchase a replacement with the same part number as the one indicated on page iii.
