GP-IB Interface
12.1 GP-IB Interface Features and Specifications
GP-IB Interface Features
Listener Capability
• You can use the GP-IB interface to specify the same settings that you can using
the front panel keys. You cannot use it to turn the GS200 on and off or change
communication settings.
• The GP-IB interface receives output requests for setup data and measured data from
the controller.
• The interface can also receive commands such as status report commands.
Talker Capability
The GP-IB interface transmits setup data, waveform data, and other types of data.
Note
Talk-only, listen-only, and controller capabilities are not available on the GS200.
Switching between Remote and Local Modes
When Switching from Local to Remote Mode
The GS200 switches to remote mode when it is in local mode and it receives a REN
(Remote Enable) message from the controller.
• The REMOTE indicator illuminates (see section 1.1).
• All keys other than the LOCAL key are locked.
• Settings entered in local mode are retained even when the GS200 switches to remote
mode.
When Switching from Remote to Local Mode
The GS200 switches to local mode when it is in remote mode and you press the LOCAL
key.
• The REMOTE indicator turns off.
• Key operations are enabled.
• Settings entered in remote mode are retained even when the GS200 switches to local
mode.
GP-IB Interface Specifications
