b) Pull out and completely extend the Right Marking Tower from the Frame using
the Marking Tower Handle.
18. Inspect the front and rear PBU Spherical Docking Balls and clean as required.
19. Push the Right Marking Tower into the Frame.
a) Gently push in the Right Marking Tower into the Frame using the Marking Tower
Handle.
Note
The Right Marking Tower may move to the right during the next step.
b) Turn the Right Marking Tower Retaining thumbscrew clockwise until it is completely
tightened.
20. Using the Customer Maintenance Platform, inspect the entire Apex Roll surface and
clean as required.
21. Continue to Cleaning the Left Marking Module .
Cleaning the Left Marking Module
Prior to cleaning, see the Cleaning the CiPress Overview , Before Cleaning Checklist and
General Web Path Cleaning Tips .
The following components are cleaned as a part of this procedure:
• Print Box Unit (PBU) Backer Rolls
• Idler Rolls
• Ink Drip Trays
• PBU Docking Points
• PBU Docking Balls
• Web Cooling Drum
1. If not done already, perform the Before Cleaning Checklist .
2. Move the Left Marking Tower to the left by turning the Tower Control Switch
counterclockwise. Hold the switch until the Tower has traveled as far to the left as
possible.
3. Remove the two Ink Drip Trays and dispose of any accumulated ink or dust.
4. Rotate and inspect the entire Idler Roll surface and clean as required.
5. Rotate and inspect the entire Web Cooling Drum surface and clean as required.
6. Replace the two Ink Drip Trays.
7. Rotate and inspect the entire surface of each PBU Backer Roll and clean as required.
8. Inspect the front and rear PBU Docking Points and clean as required.
9. Move the Left Marking Tower to the left by turning the Tower Control Switch
counterclockwise. Hold the switch until the Tower has traveled to the service access
position.
