Connecting the External Audio System to the HPSA-7100-R
.
Trouble Connections for a Single Trouble Output:
1. If a single Trouble output is required to be reported to the External Source,
connect the Trouble contacts in series using jumper wires (not provided) as shown
in Figure 5.5 and Figure 5.6.
2. Connect the twisted pair wires from the External Audio Source to the appropriate
(single) Trouble contact output (Shown as
J2-6, NO/NC
and
J2-7, COM
in
3. Install an End-of-Line Resistor (EOLR) as required by the External Audio
System, across the appropriate Trouble output (Shown as
J2-6, NO/NC
and
J2-7,
COM
in Figure 5.5 and Figure 5.6).
Trouble contacts can be daisy chained together, with an EOLR placed in
series with a set of Trouble contacts. The EOLR value is dependent upon the
requirements of the External Source.
The configuration shown in Figure 5.5 and Figure 5.6 will result in a single
HPSA Trouble being reported. The single trouble includes multiple HPSA
Trouble circuits; the Operator will need to troubleshoot the HPSA to identify
which specific Trouble circuit is causing the reported trouble.
For reporting each individual Trouble, an appropriate EOLR must be placed
in accordance with the requirements of the External Source based on
whether the input to the Source is Normally Open or Normally Closed.
The configuration shown in Figure 5.10 and Figure 5.11 will result in each
individual HPSA Trouble being reported to the External Source.
THE EXTERNAL AUDIO SYSTEM MUST HAVE ONE OR MORE INPUT
CIRCUITS TO MONITOR THE TROUBLE CONTACTS ON THE HPSA-
7100-R. FAILURE TO MONITOR ALL HPSA-7100-R TROUBLES COULD
RESULT IN POOR OR NO SIGNALING PERFORMANCE.
ALL HPSA-7100-R TROUBLE CONDITIONS ARE SIGNALED BACK TO
THE EXTERNAL AUDIO SYSTEM AS EITHER AN OPEN OR CLOSED
CIRCUIT, DEPENDING ON THE POSITIONING OF THE TROUBLE
JUMPERS/SHORTING BARS SHOWN IN FIGURE 5.8.
THE EXTERNAL AUDIO SYSTEM MUST HAVE PROVISION FOR
MONITORING TROUBLE CONDITIONS AND MUST PROVIDE A
REVERSE POLARITY CONDITION TO ACTIVATE THE HPSA-7100-R.
FAILURE TO MONITOR ALL HPSA-7100-R TROUBLES MAY RESULT IN
POOR OR NO SIGNALING PERFORMANCE.
