C.2 AUDIO INPUT AND CONTROL WIRING
The information in this section provides wiring details for the Audio and Monitoring & Control cable runs
between the FACP/External Audio Source and the HPSA.
Distances in this section are based on the External Audio Source’s nominal rated values for the100, 70.7,
25 and 1 V

Audio In signals. It is assumed that the PTT and HPSA trouble contacts will be monitored
from the same External Source and that the audio signal will represent a worst-case distance scenario.
Wiring distances for the PTT and trouble contacts are a function of the External Source equipment; refer to
the equipment manufacturer’s instructions to ensure proper wiring and end-of-line resistor applications.
When installing the SafePath SP40S with the HPSA, the following Tables should be used for determining
audio, PTT and trouble contact wiring to the furthest HPSA.

DUE TO FACTORS SUCH AS WIRE CAPACITANCE AND NOISE INDUCTION, ALL
WIRING TO THE HPSA DRIVERS SHOULD BE LIMITED TO 6,000 FEET.
LONG WIRE RUNS OR INSTALLATION IN AN INDUSTRIAL ENVIRONMENT SHOULD
USE SHIELDED WIRE.
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT ALL AUDIO INPUT AND CONTROL APPLICATIONS USE
SHIELDED, TWISTED PAIR CABLE, HOWEVER, THE 1 V
RMS
AUDIO APPLICATIONS
MUST USE SHIELDED WIRE.
