AM24480,000035B -19-06SEP21-1/1
Replacing the saw chain
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of injury during
maintenance and/or service procedures, ensure
you: lower the attachment to the ground; stop
the engine; turn off any master shut-offs; and
do not allow personnel in the cab.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of injury when
working on or with the saw chain, ensure you
wear the correct safety gloves and remove
the saw chain when making any adjustments
or servicing the saw unit.
1. Place the unit so it is securely on the ground with the
saw unit facing up.
2. Depressurise the saw chain’s tension system by
pressing the pilot-valve (8).
3. Attach the saw chain replacement tool to the tension
device (6) and the bar holder (2) connecting the ring
on the lever (9) to the pin (1), and connecting the hook
(11) to the pin (7).
4. Pull the lever (9) to compress the tensioning device.
When the bar holder (2) is in the correct position, the
locking device (10) will automatically engage.
5. Remove the saw chain from the saw unit.
6. Install a new saw chain; slowly pull the lever until the
locking device on the saw chain tool disengages.
NOTE: Ensure you always use high-speed saw chains
with 3/4” pitch saw units.
7. Remove the saw chain tool from the saw unit.
8. Carefully operate the saw a few times to secure
pressure in the chain tensioning device. If the saw
chain repeatedly jumps off the saw bar, you may need
to bleed the system.
