Preparing for service
Before
you start a service procedure, ensure you warn
others of this work. You should also attach a “Do Not
Operate” tag in an obvious place in the operator's station.
Always park and prepare your machine for service or
repair properly.
•
Park the machine on a secure, level surface and lower
the equipment to the ground.
•
Disable the pilot hydraulics.
•
Turn the pilot reset switch to the “OFF” position.
•
Stop the engine and remove the key.
When working on the felling head, ensure the attachment
is securely supported: DO NOT support the machine
on cinder blocks, hollow tiles, or other props that may
crumble under continuous load.
DO NOT work under a machine that is solely supported
by a jack.
Before starting the service procedure(s), ensure you fully
understand the steps involved.
Ensure the service area is clean and dry, and, wherever
possible, try to keep it in this condition.
If the engine needs to be running for the service procedure,
ensure
two people
are involved in the service work.
Ensure any long hairs are tied behind your head. To
minimise the risk of serious injury,
do not
wear a necktie,
scarf, loose clothing, or a necklace when using machine
tools or working with moving parts. In addition, ensure you
remove rings and other items of jewelry prior to starting
work.
