Inspecting the carrier
Before starting the carrier each day, ensure you perform a
thorough inspection.
Walk around the carrier, and check there is no evidence
of damage and/or excessive wear on or in the machine
guards, shields, and hydraulic hoses. You should also
check to ensure these components are correctly installed.
If you observe that a warning label is missing or damaged,
you should replace it immediately.

Operator Protective Structures (OPS)
Due to variations in regional requirements, machine
configurations, and harvester/felling head type,
forestry-related operator protection is a complex topic.
The machine’s operator, supervisor, or owner must always
check the cab of the carrier to ensure it is equipped with
OPS; he or she must also ensure the OPS is not visibly
damaged when working in the woods.
The carrier operator, owner, or supervisor must also check
and comply with the local and/or regional forestry-related
OPS requirements. While some regions have additional
requirements, it is recommended you refer to
ISO
8082 Forestry – Operator Protective Structures (OPS)
for specific, internationally-recognised, performance
requirements.
Driving
When you are driving the carrier, you should ensure you:

Are aware of your surroundings at all times.
•
Consistently maintain good visibility by reducing your
speed, using proper lighting, and maintaining clean
windows.
•
Are always aware of the wind direction and speed.
•
Have securely placed the felling head in the travel
position before driving.
•
Use the Operators’ Manual provided by the carrier
manufacturer to learn about operation of the carrier.
