Safety precautions: Operation
AM24480,0000328 -19-29FEB16-1/1
Avoid work site hazards
Avoid contact with gas lines, buried cables, and water
lines. Before starting work, contact utility line location
services to identify all underground utilities.
Prepare the work site properly;
clear away any debris
that may move unexpectedly if it is run over. Avoid
operating the machine near structures or objects that
could fall onto the machine.
Prevent the hoist (boom) or attachment from coming
into contact with overhead obstacles such as electrical
lines:
never move the machine closer than three metres
(10 feet) plus twice the length of the line insulator.
Keep bystanders clear of the work site at all times:
use barricades or a signal person to keep vehicles and
pedestrians away, particularly when you are moving the
machine in congested areas or where visibility is restricted.
Ensure you always keep the signal person in view, and
coordinate hand signals before you start the machine.
Only operate the machine on surfaces with solid
footing that has enough strength to support the
machine;
be especially alert when working near
embankments or excavations.
Avoid working under over-hanging embankments or
stockpiles;
these could collapse under or on the machine.
Reduce the machine speed
when operating the machine
with a tool on or near the ground (for example, during
snow removal). Obstacles may be hidden, and collision
with such objects at high speed can result in the machine
stopping suddenly; this can result in serious injury and/or
machine damage.
Always wear your seat/safety belt
when operating the
machine.
