The Towing Vehicle
Kerb Weight:
The weight of the towing vehicle as defined by the vehicle manufacturer.
This is normally:
a)
With a full tank of fuel.
b)
With an adequate supply of liquids incidental to the vehicles
propulsion.
c)
Without driver or passengers.
d)
Without any load except loose tools and equipment with which, the
vehicle is normally provided.
e)
Without any towing bracket.
Note: As a general rule, the actual laden weight of a caravan should not
exceed the kerb weight of the towing vehicle, if the later is a conventional
car saloon, coupe, hatchback, estate, or convertible, etc.
Maximum Permissible Towing Mass:
The weight defined by the vehicle manufacturer as being the maximum that
the vehicle is designed to tow.
Train Weight:
(Combination Weight)
The maximum permitted combined weight of the towing vehicle and trailer
combination as specified by the towing vehicle manufacturer.
