Procedure 2
Message Check
When the T1960CS/T1960CT’s HDD does not function properly, some of the following error
messages may appear on the display. Start with Check 1 below and perform the other checks
as instructed.
Check 1
If any of the following messages appear, perform Check 2. If the following mes-
sages do not appear, perform Check 4.
Note that the error messages appear on the display for five (5) seconds, then
disappear.
HDC ERROR
or
HDD #0 ERROR
or
HDD #1 ERROR
Check 2
If either of the following messages appear, perform Procedure 3. If the following
messages do not appear, perform Check 3.
Insert system disk in drive
Press any key when ready .....
or
Non-System disk or disk error
Replace and press any key
Check 3
Using the Toshiba MS-DOS system disk, install a system program on the hard disk
using the SYS command.
If the following message appears on the display, the system program has been
transferred to the HDD.
System transferred
Restart the computer. If the error message still appears, perform Check 4.
Check 4
The HDD is connected to the system board directly. This connection can become
disconnected or damaged. Disassemble the computer as described in Chapter 4,
Replacement Procedures
. If the HDD is not connected, reconnect it and return to
Procedure 1. If the HDD is firmly connected to the system board, perform Proce-
dure 3.
