Verifying print engine operation by using its self-test print
1.
If not already off, turn off the printer.
2.
Remove the lower rear cover and the engine control board cover to
access the engine control board.
3.
On the print engine control board, set DIP Switches 1-1
on.
Set
Switches 1-2, -3, -4, -5, -6, -7 and -8
off
.
4.
At the image processor board rear panel, set DIP Switch 1-1
on.
(This
will hold the image processor in a state of reset.)
5.
Turn on the printer and the print engine prints a test print. If the
printer does not power up, go to the later topic “Verifying power
supply operation” on page 6-4.
If the printer prints a test print, then the print engine is working correctly and
the printer's problem resides with its image processor board. Refer to the later
topic “Image processor self-diagnostics” on page 6-18.
If the printer does not print a test pattern, then a problem exists with the print
engine. Proceed with the topic “Verifying power supply operation” on page 6-4.
