Cleaning and Maintenance
Each time you service a printer
1.
Wipe the line of heating elements of the thermal head with a lint-free
cloth dampened with 90% isopropyl alcohol to remove all traces of
dirt and wax. Clean the transfer roll guide to remove all traces of dirt.
2.
Open the top cover. Clean the upper paper-eject rollers with an
alcohol-dampened cloth.
3.
Wipe the sheet metal surfaces clean.
4.
With a 90% isopropyl alcohol-dampened cloth, clean the lower
paper-eject rollers.
5.
Remove the front top cabinet panel to access the upper paper eject
rollers; clean them with an alcohol-dampened cloth.
6.
With an alcohol-dampened cloth, gently clean the platen roller. Use
side-to-side strokes. Rotate the platen as you clean it.
7.
Clean the transfer roll mark sensor's lenses with an
alcohol-dampened cloth.
Cleaning the printer
1.
Outside surfaces
Clean the outside surfaces of the Phaser 480X using a soft cloth and a
non-abrasive cleanser.
2.
Cleaning the paper-pick roller
Clean the paper-pick roller (hidden under and in front of the paper
guide) by using the cleaning sheet included in the cleaning kit.
a.
Remove all paper from the paper tray, set it aside on a clean,
dust-free surface; replace the plastic cover on the paper tray.
b.
While pressing down on the metal load lever, place the cleaning
sheet on top of the paper tray cover.
c.
Press the cleaning sheet under the hooks on either side of the tray.
d.
Press the flaps on the cleaning sheet into openings on the metal
load lever.
