Troubleshooting

During the verification self-test the test results are transmitted out the serial port.
Communication parameters for the serial port are 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no
parity and 2 stop bits. The rear panel LED flashes irregularly as the tests are
executed (on for one test, off for the next).
At the beginning of the verification self-tests all the front panel lights are turned
on. At the successful completion of the tests, the ERROR light is turned off but
all the remaining lights stay on. The lights stay in this pattern for as long as the
printer continuously loops through the verification self-test. If, however, an
error occurs during the verification self-tests, then all the front panel light,
except ERROR (and POWER) are turned off.
Manufacturing service test
This test setting is used for servicing and testing the printer during
manufacturing. It is not intended for use in field servicing.
Printing the configuration page
If the configuration page switch combination is selected, then following the
power-up cycle the printer print a configuration page. The configuration page
shows a great deal of information regarding the information and setup values
stored in NVRAM. Refer to the topic “The configuration page” on page 2-15.

Verification self-test. Up position runs the verification
self-test after a hardware reset or power-up. The test results
are communicated out the serial port to a connected ANSI
terminal.
Disconnect any terminal or host connected to the
serial port if you do not want it to receive the self-test
messages.

No self-test. With Switch 1 and 2 in the down position and
Switch 3 in the

Manufacturing service self-test. Switch 1 down, Switches
3 and 4 in the
up position run the manufacturing self-test after
a hardware reset or power-up. This enters an interactive
mode to allow a manufacturing technician to get detailed
information on a specific test.
