Thermal head installation
Installing the thermal head is basically the reverse of the removal steps.
1.
Connect the four wiring harnesses to the thermal head.
2.
Position the thermal head into the head support assembly. Ensure the
two head springs are properly positioned into their detents in the back
of the thermal head. Also ensure the thermal head’s mounting plate is
positioned
under
the head support assembly’s mounting bracket.
Check that the pins in the mounting plate align with the holes in the
mounting bracket.
3.
Close the release claws to secure the thermal head in place.
4.
Install the two mounting bracket screws and washers removed earlier.
Thermal head ROM replacement
1.
Remove the lower rear cover as explained in the earlier topic “Lower
rear cover” on page 8-3.
2.
Remove the engine control board cover “Engine control board cover”
on page 8-4.
3.
On the print engine control board, replace ROM M16 with the ROM
supplied with the new thermal head.
4.
Using the value printed on the thermal head, follow the power supply
adjustment procedure “Adjusting the thermal head voltage” on
page 9-2.
5.
Reinstall the printer covers.
6.
Turn on the printer and print a test page.
