Connecting to a Network
The MTX100 has a 100/10 BASE-T port on the rear panel that allows you to
upload and download stream files.
This section provides instructions for connecting the MTX100 to a single PC or
a network and setting the network parameters for the 100/10 BASE-T port.
Connecting the MTX100 to your PC(s)
The MTX100 uses the rear-panel 100/10 BASE-T port (see Figure 2-2 on page
2-4) to communicate with a PC. Use one of the following two methods to
connect the MTX100 to your PC(s).
If you are connecting the MTX100 directly to a single PC, use a crossover
Ethernet cable to connect between the 100/10 BASE-T port on the MTX100
and the Ethernet port on the PC. If you need to construct your own crossover
cable, Figure 3-21 shows the pin connections to change on a straight cable to
produce a crossover cable.
If you are connecting the MTX100 to your local Ethernet network, use a
straight Ethernet cable to connect between the 100/10 BASE-T port on the
MTX100 and the Ethernet hub port of your local network. By connecting to
an Ethernet network, you can access the MTX100 using any PC on the
network.
