6-8 Removing and Installing the Backplane
The SCF424AS chassis backplane is located behind the hard drives and in front of
the front system fans in each motherboard node. Although backplane failure rarely
occurs, in the event of a backplane failure, follow the instructions below.
Removing the Backplane
Removing the Backplane from the Chassis
1. Using the handles on the front of the motherboard node, pull the node
completely out of the chassis and place it on a fl at surface.
2. Remove the node cover (see Section 6-6 Removing the Node Cover) and air
shroud (see Section 6-12 Installing the Air Shroud).
3. Remove the four screws securing the fan tray to the fl oor of the node (Figure
6-9).
