6-5 Installing and Removing Hard Drives
The SCF424AS chassis contains individual motherboards in separate 2U nodes.
Each motherboard node controls the hard drives contained within that node. Note
that if a motherboard node is pulled out of the chassis, the hard drives associated
with that node will power down as well. Refer to the charts below and on the
following pages for your specifi c chassis confi guration. These instructions apply to
hot-swappable hard drives in both 2.5" and 3.5" sizes. Hot-swappable hard drives
can be removed from the chassis without powering down the server or removing
the node from the chassis.
Only enterprise level hard drives are recommended for use in Supermicro chassis.
