Well installation
Heat source system
A supply and return well or soakaway
well are required for utilising
groundwater as heat source. the
required flow rate (water volume of
the wss) is stated in the heat pump
specification. A pump test lasting
several days should ascertain whether
the water volume required by the heat
pump is available. establish the water
quality by means of a water analysis.
the dirt trap with a mesh size of
0.6 mm that is part of the standard
delivery of the heat pump protects
the heat pump evaporator against
foreign matter that could settle. install
it immediately at the heat pump inlet.
As the volume and quality of the
water remain unchanged, the heat
pump process will not interfere in
the sense of the water Household Act
[Germany]. However, the heat pump
operator must apply to the relevant
authority for usage of the water [if
applicable].
Well construction
the wells should be at least 15 m
apart. the return or soakaway well
returns the extracted water volume to
the groundwater. when constructing
the wells, ensure that the cooled
water that enters the return well will
not come into contact with the supply
well. the well hole depth depends on
the level of the ground water table.
experience has shown that most wells
for heat pumps require a depth of
between 5 and 15 m. Always route
the pipelines with a slope towards the
wells.
