Serial Data Alert Management

Alert Handling (ALF-ALC-ARC/ACN)
NAVIKNOT complies with the statutory requirements regarding a serial
interface for the alert management (alert presentation and acknowledge-
ment) by a Central Alert Management System (CAM) following IEC
61162 (NMEA 0183) and MSC.302(87) (BAMS).
The NAVIKNOT 600 SD system supports the external alert handling
using the $--ALF, $--ALC, $--ARC sentences and the $--ACN sentence
(acknowledge alert) according to IEC standards 62923 (BAMS) and
61162-1 (NMEA 0183).
If transmission of the $--ALF, $--ALC, $--ARC sentences is enabled, the
active alerts may be displayed at an external alert handling device or
may be recorded by a VDR. If reception of the $--ACN sentence is ena-
bled, pending alerts may be acknowledged or silenced or the responsi-
bility transferred from the external alert handling device.
The $--ALF, $--ALC, $--ARC and $--ACN sentences are implemented as
follows:
•
When no alert conditions are present, the NAVIKNOT 600 SD trans-
mits a “no alerts” ALC message every 25 seconds, as requested per
IEC 61162-1. This is an $--ALC sentence with null fields for the alert
entries.
•
When the NAVIKNOT 600 SD raises an alert, the corresponding ALF
message is transmitted reflecting the current alert state. The ALF
message always consists of two ALF sentences, with the alert
description contained in the second sentence. The alert will be
marked as „active“ and „unacknowledged“.
In case of multiple alerts, the corresponding $--ALF sentences are
transmitted repeatedly.
•
Responsibility transfer is generally possible for all alerts, when the
HBT Message is transmitted by the CAM. In case the HBT Message
transmission fails, the transferred alerts will be re transferred.
•
If a pending alert is acknowledged (locally or externally through an
$--ACN sentence), the NAVIKNOT 600 SD marks the respective $--
ALF sentence as “acknowledged”.
•
When an alert condition clears and the operator has not acknowl-
edged the alert, the NAVIKNOT 600 SD transmits the respective $--
ALF sentence with alert state „rectified“ and „unacknowledged“.
When an alert condition clears and the operator has acknowledged
the alert, the NAVIKNOT 600 SD transmits the respective $--ALR sen-
tence only once with status „acknowledged“.
•
Time synchronization is not supported by the NAVIKNOT EU and the
„time of last change“ field within the ALF message is therefore
always empty.
Alert grouping and alert aggregation according to IEC 62923-1 is not
supported.
