Updating the EU Software via SUSI 9-15
Update Procedure
1. Make sure that you have installed the SUSI application on a PC or
laptop, downloaded and stored the required update files on the PC/
laptop and that you have obtained the required special RS-232 con-
nection cable from Sperry Marine, before proceeding with the proce-
dure.
CAUTION
Risk of loss of parameter settings through software update
It cannot be guaranteed that parameters settings in the User and Setup
menus and the currently active manual settings are left intact during the
software download.
Before exchanging the flashboard or performing a software update via
SUSI, record all settings to be able to re-enter them manually, if required.
Note For recording all parameter settings see “Setup and Configuration
Tables” in the appendix of this manual.
2. Power down the NAVIKNOT 600 SD system.
3. Get access to the electronics unit and remove the cover.
4. If a flashboard is installed in the electronics unit, remove it from its
socket (J7) before proceeding with the update.
Note Should a flashboard remain installed during the update, its contents will
be copied to the onboard flash memory when the system is restarted, i.e.
the newly updated software will immediately be overwritten by the old
version stored on the flashboard.
5. You will have obtained an update file (hex file) from Sperry Marine.
Save this file at a convenient location on the computer, where it is
easily retrieved.
6. Plug in an USB or RS-232 connection cable at the PC and at the elec-
tronic unit‘s service port (USB = J5, RS-232 = J4).
7. Start up the PC and execute the SUSI application.
