1-4 Design and Main Features
NAVIKNOT Alert Management
The NAVIKNOT 600 SD system complies with the DNV GL rules regard-
ing a serial interface for the presentation and acknowledgement of alerts
either by an Alert Management System (AMS) / Central Alert Manage-
ment (CAM) or Bridge Alert Management System (BAMS).
For details regarding the NAVIKNOT 600 SD alert handling see chapter
"Alert Management Preliminaries" on page 3-1, "Serial Data Alert Man-
agement" on page 3-26, the respective "Service Setup – Parameters" on
page 6-9 in the "Service Setup Menu" and the NAVIKNOT CAMS Inter-
face setting standard connection drawing 5003-0153-16 in the appendix.
Data Outputs
Serial speed and distance data is provided in the NMEA 0183 format at
six RS-422 outputs. These are divided into two groups of three outputs
each, which may be configured independently to suit the receiving
equipment.
Analogue speed signals are provided at one voltage and one current
output. The mapping of actual speeds to corresponding output values is
configured for each output independently.
The distance travelled may also determined by the pulse signals from
six contact closure outputs. These are divided into three groups of three,
two and one output respectively, which may be configured inde-
pendently to provide 10, 100, 200, 400 or 20000 pulses per nautical mile.
Note The differentiation of the alert management is by selecting either
ALR (for AMS/CAMS) or ALF/ALC/ARC (for BAMS) as NMEA message in
the Service Setup 600.
Note The selection of the alert management system must be chosen according
to ship classification requirements and hardware equipment during
installation and must not be changed when the ship is in operation.
