The Sea wat e r S trainer
  The sea water strainer’s stainless steel element shou ld be inspected, removed, and cleaned
as needed. A clogged strainer wi l l cause th e MPC control to alarm “Service Pr efilters” Be
careful to ensure that the thru - hull i s clo sed before disasse mbly and the seal and element
are in place befor e re assembly. Put the scr een up to a light for inspection. When the system
is put into storage, remove, rin se, and reassemble dry to impede corrosion. Check frequently
durin g operation.
The Pr efilt ers
  Serv ice the prefilters as soon as poss ib le after the prefilter condition graph beg in s to r ise. If
the filter condition graph gets al l the way to “ Replace ” th e machine will slo w down. When
disp lay reach es “Replac e” a se cond time th e alarm sounds and the system wil l shut down to
prevent damage. If cleaning and re - usin g f ilter ele ments, clean when the first se gment ap-
pears on the filter condition bar graph on the LCD disp lay.
  To service the filters shut off the thru - hull, open the housings, di scard the old filters, Clean
out the housing bowl s, reassemble the housin gs w ith new 20 and 5 micron filter elements.
The 5 m icron fi lter goes down stream from the 20 m icron. Leave dry un til next startup.
  U se only Spectra approved filters or you may vo id your warranty. The f ilters may be
cleaned up to 3 times with a soft brush and water in a buck et. Oc casionally, l i ghtly lube the
O - rin gs with s i licone grease.
The Charcoal Fr esh W a te r Flush Filter
  Replace the charco al filter element at least every 6 months.
General
Periodically in spect the en tire system for leakage and chaf e on the tubing and hoses. Repair
any leaks you find as soon as practical. So me crystal formation around the Clark pump blocks i s
normal. Wipe down any sa lt encrusted are as with a damp cloth.
