Tan k Switch I nstallation and Operation:
There are two sets of terminals on the MPC - 5000 PCB th at c an be used in four dif-
ferent configurations to automatically start and stop the wat ermaker or to au tomatically stop
the watermaker when the t ank(s) are full without the auto star t fea ture. These terminals are
on the green ten pin connec tor and ar e labeled “Float Sw itch 1” and “Float Sw itch 2.” Float
S witch 1 i s the tank full sw itch and Float Sw itch 2 is the tank empty switch.
If the unit is w ired for both Autostart and Autostop, it can b e put into AutoFil l Mode by
pushin g and hold in g the Auto Run sw itch on the MPC - 5000 display. In this mode the water-
maker wi ll start whenever th e water lev el drops below the tank empty switch, so that it is
open (not conduc ting electricity). When the tank fills up and both the tank full sw itch and
the tank empty switch have remained closed for two m inutes, the watermaker will shut down
and flush itse lf. The water maker wi l l start back up when th e water level drops below the
tank empty switch and it remains open for 2 m inutes. Th is conf i guration al lows for com-
pletely automatic operation. If the wat ermaker does not n eed to st art up within five days it
wi ll automatical ly do a fresh water flush. AutoF i ll mode can be ended by pushing the stop
button or the Autoflush button. If th e watermaker is in Autorun mode it can be put into
Autofil l mode without stoppin g it by hold in g down the Autorun button.
If the owner prefers to install the automatic shutoff fe ature without th e automatic star t up
option, only the tank full s witch i s used. A jumper must be placed between th e t ank empty
terminals ( Float sw itch 2) in p lace of the t ank empty switch, because the wat ermaker wil l
only shut down if both sets of terminal s are closed. To use thi s mode the watermaker must
be started up with the Stop/start bu tton or th e Autorun button. DO NOT press and hold the
‘Auto Run’ button, as this will enter the ‘Auto Fil l Mode’ and the watermaker will not
function properly . The watermaker wil l then fil l the tank and automatic ally enter the Auto-
flush mode, fresh water flushin g itself every 5 days unti l another command is g iven.
It is poss ib le to use the autofill feature with 2 tanks. A double throw electrical switch mu st
be installed in a convenient location. If only the sin g le tank full s witch i s in stalled in each
tank conne ct th e wire From the Float Sw itch 1 terminal “1” to the common on the switch and
run separate wires from the switch to each t ank switch. The second wires can both be run to
the Float Sw itch 1 terminal 2. If you are us in g two sw itches in each tank you wil l need a
double pole double throw s witch.
