  In the event o f co mplete MPC control failure , the system
may be operated manually by usin g the manual run sw itch on
the MPC con trol box and manually openin g the divers ion
valve.
  For manual start up, switch on the feed pump by setting the
feed pump s witch to “RUN M AN”. Shut the un it down if
the Clark pump does not cycle, if air is continuous ly present
in the intake line or if the feed pump is excess ively no i sy.
The automatic safety controls are disabled in manual mode.
  Always di scard the product water for the first few minutes of
operation. The init ial product water from the system may not
be potable. Taste the product wa ter before sending to a tank.
To get a water sample loosen the 1/4 inch product tube fitting
at either the fe ed pump modu le or the membrane outlet and
collect a sample Check it with a handheld sal inity meter or
taste it.
  The divers ion valve, an electrically operated three way v alve
which is nor mal ly ener gi zed by the MPC controls to send
water to th e tank, will not open automatically in manual
mode. Instead, it must be opened u sin g the mechanical over-
ride button on th e valve. The valve is located behind an
access opening on the left side o f the feed pu mp mo dule .
Push the manual override but ton in and ro tat e 1/4 turn clock-
wise to open the valve.
Manual O peration
In the e vent o f a com ponent failure resultin g in a shut down due to a fal se alarm, the fai led
component can be overridden usin g the Progra mm in g Function on the d isp lay. H i gh Pressure,
Serv ice Prefilter, Sy stem Stal led (air lock), and Sal inity Probe Fai led can be defeat ed. The other
safety shutdowns wil l st il l be activated. The pressure sensors and salinity probe can also be
calibrated from the disp lay. Co mplete in structions are found in Part 2 of this manual under
“ Programm in g fro m the D isp lay”. Be a bsolutely certain that the alarm is in error before
defeating the auto matic controls.
