Inner Base Cover
The removal and installation of this part is covered in the flip disassembly and reassembly
procedures. To remove this part, perform sections 2.1.1 - 2.1.3 of the base disassembly and then
perform section 3.1.1 of the flip disassembly. To install this part, perform section 3.2.4 of the flip
reassembly and then perform sections 2.2.2 - 2.2.4 of the base reassembly. If this part is being
replaced, a new part should be used in the place of the old part when performing the reassembly
instructions. Using a new inner base cover requires that a new Bluetooth antenna, a new magnet,
and a new liquid intrusion indicator be installed on the new inner base cover. Refer to the
installation sections for the Bluetooth antenna, the magnet, and the liquid intrusion indicator for
instructions on how to install these components.

Bluetooth Antenna Removal
•
Perform sections 2.1.1 - 2.1.3 of the Base Disassembly Procedure
Tools needed:
*
Style 2A ESD tweezers (Blunt tip)
Step-by-Step Instructions
1.
Locate the Bluetooth antenna on the inner base
cover.
NOTE! The Bluetooth antenna is held in place by
six standoffs. Each of the six standoffs has
been assigned a number to make
identification of specific standoffs easier.
NOTE! The bending of the Bluetooth antenna done
in the next few steps is necessary to prevent
damage to the features that hold the
Bluetooth antenna in place.
2.
Using tweezers, grip the free end of the Bluetooth
antenna and bend it around standoff #5 so that the
end of the antenna extends off of the inner base
cover and is at approximately a 90 degree angle to
the rest of the antenna.
