Configuring a firewall
The firewall of your HiPath BizIP offers the best possible protection, for ex-
ample through the use of
Stateful Inspection
.
IP filter
In the standard configuration the firewall is configured as follows:
•
Ping response on the WAN port: Deactivated
•
IP filter: Activated

Adjusting the firewall
•
Activating the option
WAN Port Ping Reply
enables the WAN port (IP
address of the BizIP AD 20 on the WAN side) to be found from the In-
ternet ("pinged").
•
Deactivating the
IP Filtering
option deactivates the firewall.
You are
completely unprotected from attacks from the Internet.
•
Set up new filter rules as required:
1. Select the
Traffic Direction
for which the new filter rule is to apply.
2. Click
Add New Filtering Rule
3. Under
Protocol
select the IP protocol for which the filter rule is to ap-
ply.

Avoid making changes to the standard settings unless absolutely
necessary!
Incorrect settings cause Internet and VoIP links to fail. The firewall
function can be strengthened significantly or deactivated by creat-
ing filter rules.
