Mounting positions of the 2D LiDAR sensors
The 2D LiDAR sensors must be mounted in the designated positions.
The adhesive labels attached to the 2D LiDAR sensors indicate which system function a
sensor supports. The sensors are mounted according to this label.
The LMS Width and LMS Axle must be in the same measuring plane.
The scan plane position is indicated by a housing marking next to the inspection window
(see the arrow in the figure below).

NOTE
Refer to the project planning notes
▸
Always observe the notes provided in chapter
Mounting the LMS Width
▸
Mount the
LMS Width
so that the laser beam is emitted
crosswise to the direction of
travel
as it hits the road surface.
It should usually be mounted at one end of the gantry with the connections pointing in the
direction of travel.
Fig. 49: Mounting – LMS Width
In the case of multiple LMS Width laser scanners, the sensors must be in the same scan
plane. We therefore do not recommend using an alignment aid. The better and more
accurately the sensors are aligned, the more accurate the vehicle data.
