When power lines are in the area where the boom will be
moving to complete a pour, a spotter must be employed whose only job is to
warn the operator if the boom comes within 20 feet (50 feet above 350 Kv) of
power lines.
The spotter must understand the responsibilities assigned, and must
be able to judge a 20- or 50-foot distance. If possible, help the spotter by provid-
ing a visual aid on the ground, such as cones, which represent the beginning of the
danger zone (Figure 45).

Direct contact with a live power line is always dangerous to
anyone and everyone electrically connected to the machine (Figure 46).
Use
extreme caution
near power lines.
8.11
Do not rely on depth perception when working near power
lines.
You must use a spotter!
