Hydraulic system
Visually check and repair any hydraulic leaks before
operating the machine. Lost hydraulic oil harms the en-
vironment and it is expensive to clean up.
Hydraulic oil level and condition
The oil should look clear and clean. Milky oil or oil with
many entrained air bubbles should be replaced immedi-
ately. (Note: Oil that holds air bubbles overnight should
be replaced, but oil that becomes bubbly on the job is
not a problem. In that case, it will be a problem with the
integrity of the hydraulic seals in the system.) Top off oil
levels only with the same type of oil that is in the res-
ervoir. Do not mix name brands, even if they have the
same viscosity. Each oil manufacturer uses a different
additive package to accomplish antifoaming, antiwear,
to prevent silt settling, and other problems. Mixing dif-
ferent types of chemical additive packages may render
them useless.

Hydraulic reservoir
Drain water from the hydraulic reservoir each week.
Open the ball valve under the hydraulic reservoir (Fig-
ure 3) and allow the fluid to run into a pan until it chang
-
es from water to oil. (Water is heavier than oil, so it sits
on the bottom of the tank and therefore drains out first.)

General Information
1. Allow enough time for proper set up.
2.
Only a qualified operator is allowed to set up and
operate the placing boom.
3. The placing boom must be inspected daily and
properly maintained.
4. The site electrician should inspect, the power ca-
ble and sockets at the boom control panel and
generator every day.
5. Schwing recommends a generator size of 60kW.
6. On a SPB35 placing boom, the 30 HP electric mo-
tor requires 36 full load amps / 480V and 29 full
load amps / 575V.
7. It is recommend the placing boom be cleaned out
with a water washout system.
Safety instructions
When installing the Schwing separate placing boom on
the octagonal mast, be aware that the components are
heavy and difficult to handle. A dedicated crane is re
-
quired for the initial installation.
A dedicated rigger must be with the assembly team at
all times. The components must be attached and picked
so they are level. Do not force the items together, doing
so puts people at risk.
The working area needs to be properly cordoned off
and clear of any hazards. It needs to be of sufficient
