Installation of Boom and Column
Floor Frames
1. There must be a minimum of 11’- 6” (3.5 meters)
between the floors with an SPB 28 boom and a
minimum 14’- 9” (4.5 meters), with an SPB 35/37
boom.

If the floor spacing is less than 11’- 6” SPB 28 or
14’- 9” SPB 35/37 , the floor frames should be lo
-
cated at alternate floors, i.e. between 1st and 3rd
or 2nd and 4th etc.

The openings left in the floors must be 3’ - 5 1/8”
square
4. The openings must be in line with each other.
5. The edges of the openings must be solid and must
be held in place by approved metal wedges. The
floor frames are kept in place by metal wedges that
are held in frames and jammed against the column.

6. All the horizontal forces are absorbed through the
sides of the floor openings.
7. The frames are in 4 pieces, and are supplied pre-
assembled from Schwing. They may need to be
taken apart and re-assembled around the column
where required.
8.
The frames are held to the floor by 4, M24 - 8.8
grade bolts fixed to the floor slab (Figure 19).
