• If the outrigger sinks, make the cribbing base larger until the outrigger is sta-
ble using two layers of cribbing perpendicular to each other;
• After all outriggers are stable and the pump is within 3˚ of level, unfold the
boom and slowly extend it over each fully extended outrigger. If the outrigger
begins to sink, refold the boom and make the cribbing base larger. Repeat
until all outriggers are stable;
• If you cannot stabilize the outriggers, you will need to relocate the pump. Do
not proceed until all outriggers are stable;
• When you put concrete in the boom, again check the outriggers for sinking;
• After the pour begins, continue to check the outriggers for sinking throughout
the course of the day.
The stability of the unit must be ensured!
6.31
When you have the outriggers positioned correctly, close all
outrigger hydraulic shutoff valves (if your machine is so equipped).
6.32
Do not unfold or operate the placing boom when lightning is
present in the immediate area. If you are operating and lightning moves into the
area, put the boom into the transport position, or another low position, and seek
shelter until the lightning is gone.
6.33
Tipping hazard!
Do not operate the placing boom when wind
velocity exceeds 48 m.p.h. (77 k.p.h.) or per the manufacturer’s instructions!
When wind velocity exceeds the maximum allowed, the machine could tip and the
boom may not be able to slew into or resist slewing away from the wind.
6.34
If you will be unable to see the point of placement, establish a
system of communications with the workmen who will be there. Arrange for radio
communications, a system of visual or auditory signals (lights or bells), or a sig-
