The Lighter Key
The Lighter key raises the threshold for binary data detection, one unit at a
time, in the range of 0 (black) to 63 (white). Any pixel lighter than the
threshold value is considered background-not part of the image.
1. Press Lighter to raise the threshold value.
Each time you press Lighter, the threshold is raised one unit. Increasing
the threshold results in less data being collected, that is, a lighter scanned
image.
The threshold value you select will be applied in one of two methods,
depending on the setting chosen with the Tracking key. If tracking (LAT)
is on, thresholding will be dynamic, taking variations in the density of
marks and background into account. If tracking (LAT) is off, thresholding
will be absolute.
NOTE: The threshold value can be made lighter while the scan is taking
place.
The Darker Key
The Darker key lowers the threshold for binary data detection, one unit at
a time, in the range of 0 (black) to 63 (white). Any pixel as dark or darker
than the threshold value is considered a "mark," that is, a part of the
image.
1. Press Darker to lower the threshold value.
Each time you press Darker, the threshold is lowered one unit. Decreasing
the threshold results in more data being collected, that is, a darker scanned
image.
The threshold value you select will be applied in one of two methods,
depending on the setting chosen with the Tracking key. If tracking (LAT)
is on, thresholding will be dynamic, taking variations in the density of
marks and background into account. If tracking (LAT) is off, thresholding
will be absolute.
NOTE: The threshold value can be made darker while the scan is taking
place.
