Display DMA Completion
Tests 7, 8, and 9 are performed only if the preview display monitor is
installed. Also, all the above tests are skipped if you press any key while
the firmware revision message is displayed.
Any failure of these self-diagnostic tests is indicated by a flashing test
number and an audible tone.
Operating the Scanner
The scanner may be controlled in either of two ways. You may use either
the scanner control panel, as described in this chapter, or a host computer
with scan server software such as ScanServ
TM
- a Scangraphics' application
program that allows a personal computer to control the CF Series Scanner.
Scanner Control Panel:
The Keypad and Keypad Display Window
Keypad controls on the scanner let you set parameters and scan
documents. Also, the current values for the various parameters are shown
in a one-line Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) window on the keypad.
The VFD display will be referred to as the keypad display throughout this
manual.
The scanner's speed, positive/negative polarity, resolution, window size,
filter setting, tracking, and threshold value are each displayed in the
keypad display just above the key that allows you to control its setting.
The keypad and a sample keypad display window are shown in Figure 2-1.
