The Reverse Key
The
Reverse
key toggles the direction of the document transport system
between "forward" and "reverse."
•
When in the "reverse" mode, the
Reverse
key's red LED is
continuously lit and the document transport system moves in the
reverse direction-so that the document travels from the rear of the
scanner toward the front.
•
When in the "forward" mode, the
Reverse
LED is off and the
document transport system moves in its forward direction-from the
front of the scanner toward the rear.
Used primarily for off-line scans, reverse mode allows you to back up the
document and rescan all or part of the image. Its most common use is to
avoid repeated reloading of the document while testing different scan
parameters and deciding that the parameters need to be changed. This is
accomplished by pressing
Reverse
to prevent the document from running
straight through the scanner.
NOTE: You must press Scan to stop the scanner before changing its
direction with the
Reverse
key. (Refer to "Scanner Control Key - White"
on page 2-9 for more information.)
When both the
Reverse
LED and the Scan LED are continuously lit, the
image appears reversed on the preview display monitor-that is, as a
mirror-image, but at the same scale as the last forward scan.
The transport system continues to run in reverse until either you press
Scan again or the document has moved passed the document sensor that is
ahead of the scan window. When either of these things happens, the
document transport system stops, it is no longer in reverse mode, and its
LED will no longer be lit.
NOTE: In the case where the document has stopped by moving ahead of
the scan window, the document need not be reloaded for a rescan; pressing
Scan again will result in forward document travel.
