Replacing the Enclosure
WARNING:
Printed circuit board components are sensitive to electrostatic discharge. To
prevent operating failure or damage, observe the following: Establish a
ground for yourself by using a wrist grounding strap, or by touching the
metal chassis prior to handling or installing a printed circuit board
component.

Remove your replacement enclosure from the shipping container and inspect the
shipment. Save the packaging material.

Power down the host computer and the storage enclosure(s).
Refer to the procedures described to power down the host computer system in your
user’s guide and “Powering Off the Storage System” on page 41 for the enclosure.
NOTE:
Mark or make a notation of the location of the data cables and disk drives
prior to disconnecting or removing these items. To facilitate correct
installation, you may want to tag the cables or drives appropriately.

Disconnect the data cables and power cords/cables from the faulty storage enclosure.

Remove the power supply (both if dual power supply option is installed).

Remove the cooling fan module.

Remove the RAID controller.

Remove the front bezel. Rotate the fasteners counterclockwise to unlock.

Remove the disk drives (see note above).

Remove the defective storage enclosure.

For Rack Installations. Reverse the installation procedures in Chapter 3,
“Installing the Enclosure into the Rack Cabinet” on page 24.

For Deskside Tower Installations. Reverse the installation procedures in Chapter 3,
“Installing the Enclosure into the Tower Stand” on page 27.

Install the replacement storage enclosure.

For Rack Installations. Follow the installation procedures in Chapter 3, “Installing
the Enclosure into the Rack Cabinet” on page 24.
