(8) Oil leakage from the engine exhaust duct (after shutdown).
(a)
Possible causes: oil scavenge pump malfunction, leak or choking of the pipe line delivering the air to
the power turbine bearing labyrinth sealing; leakage from check valve at the oil scavenge pump
outlet; leakage from oil flow shut-off valve at the pressure side (behind fine filter); leakage from
connection of drain pipe with bearing compartment of the power turbine case; carbon deposit on the
gauze filter in the oil drain tube; damages of engine subassemblies at the power turbine oil areas.

Inspect the pipe delivering the air to the power turbine
labyrinth sealing.
Are there any abnormalities (leaks, significant dents) ?
Remove the failures.
1. Drain off the oil from oil space of the power turbine
bearings
2. Remove oil drain tube. Is the oil flowing from the
strut?
Inspect oil drain tube. Are there any abnormalities
(cracks, ends with sealing rings deformations)?
Yes
1. Check condition of the gauze filter in tube assembly,
replace sealing rings by new ones and install tube on
the engine
2. Remove the shut –off valve behind engine oil filter,
and inspect it.
Are there some defects (leak on faying surface,
cracked spring, and other) ?
Install new oil drain tube with
new sealing rings on the
engine.
Replace valve by new one.
Note: If there is still oil leakage from the
tube after verifying test, replace oil
scavenging pump.
Replace oil scavenging pump (according
to 79-02-00, Installation and
Uninstallation, point 2)
Replace sealing rings by new ones
and install tube on the engine.
